 organized 5th Regional Public Health Conference

Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) organized a two-day 5th Regional Public Health Conference in collaboration with the University of Oslo, Norway. The conference commenced on 17 December 2014 at the Malek Chowdhury Academic Bhaban of the University while Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Founder and Chairman, BRAC inaugurated the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The program chaired by Prof AK Azad Khan, President, the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUHS was addressed by Professor Dr Vinod K Srivastava, UP and Secretary, International Epidemiological Association, and Md. Sayef Uddin, Secretary General, BADAS as the Special Guests. Prof Liaquat Ali, Vice-Chancellor, BUHS gave the welcome speech at the ceremony.

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed said, regional health challenge should be achieved through the public health promotion and development by global partnership and mutual understanding. He called upon the new generation to address innovative challenges inspired by Late National Professor Mohammad Ibrahim.

Prof Srivastava said, Public Health experts should play a pioneering role amid the general practitioners to ensure health services in all spheres of the society. He emphasized on the implementation of coordinated strategies for public health care services.

Md Sayef Uddin said, efficient human resources on health should be built to meet the dire need ahead and BUHS would highly contribute to public health education and research.

In the welcome speech, Prof Ali emphasized on the national and regional collaborations for the public health education and research aiming to ensure optimum public health services in the country. In the concluding speech, Prof Khan thanked all for their gracious participation and sought all-out cooperation to make the program a success.

Almost 500 public health professionals and experts, physicians and researchers of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Australia, England and the USA attended the conference. The conference ended on December 18, 2014.
