MPH IN COMMUNITY NUTRITION

  • Knowledge on the fundamental issues about community nutrition among the graduates from different perspectives by making them come out with simple solutions for complex problems.
  • Prepare Community Nutrition graduates to deliver high quality nutrition care in a variety of settings. Program graduates will be prepared for careers in different sectors of nutrition and will be equipped to exclusively address the health and nutrition needs of different communities.
  • Adapt the passion for innovation in community nutrition graduates by orienting them in the application of modern tools in the prevention and management of malnutrition and make them learn to select and apply in complex decision-making processes.
  • Produce life-long learner graduates who are able to incorporate new evidence-based technology and knowledge into practice.
  • Promote lateral thinking by empowering community nutrition graduates to see things from different perspectives thereby making them come out with simple solutions for complex administrative problems using modern technology.

The program Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community Nutrition (CN) was started under the Public Health Division in 2013. The MPH in CN is a research-focused program for those seeking an advanced degree in community nutrition. The program promotes nutritional health and disease prevention in communities with an emphasis on vulnerable populations. The MPH (CN) is a 70-credit research-focused master’s program for those seeking an advanced degree in community nutrition. This includes core courses in introduction to public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology & bioethics, occupational & environmental health, reproductive and child health and health promotion & health education, as well as elective courses including dietetics & therapeutic nutrition, nutrition in the life cycle, nutritional assessment, nutritional policies, and programs, food security, safety and quality, applied nutrition, advanced nutrition, community-based management of malnutrition and research.

The MPH in Community Nutrition Program will be conducted on a Course & Credit based structure with 20 number of Courses to be dispensed in 70 Credits (1605 hours) in total, completed in a minimum time span of 1.5 year.

Each new Program will commence in Spring and Fall in every year (02 intakes per year).

  • Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Community Nutrition/ Food & Nutrition or its equivalents from any recognized University.
  • Masters in Human nutrition/ Nutrition/ MPH from other recognized University.
  • MBBS or its equivalent degree from any recognized University plus one year internship.
  • BDS degree recognized by BMDC with one year internship.
  • BSc in Nursing recognized by Bangladesh Nursing Council and 2 year working experiences.
  • Masters in Biological Sciences plus 2 years working experiences in public health.
  • Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy plus 2 years working experiences.
  • Bachelor of Public Health from any recognized University
  • Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery plus 2 years working experiences.
  • Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery plus 2 years working experiences.
  • Non-Medical background: recognized Bachelor degree with 2 years of working experiences.
  • Foreign students with equivalent qualifications are eligible.
  • Equivalence will be decided by a committee called ‘Equivalence Committee’ formed by the Academic Council of BUHS.

Research position in the field of nutrition, public health in government and non-government and international organization, various key positions in different projects and organization, have chance to do highest education and research in Nutrition Sector at national and international level.
