To help students acquire knowledge through science and arts of teaching so that they can utilize their skills and expertise to address occupational and environmental health challenges in Bangladesh and around the world.
To improve occupational and environmental health and safety for current and future generations, conduct training programs, research and consultancy services.
To identify underlying risk factors of occupational and environmental health problems and explore ways of overcoming challenges and develop technology for safer workplace and healthy environment, perform high-quality research.

The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety was established in 2012 and the program has been established in 2013. The Department is involved in both research and academic activities. The Department is offering a 4 years BPH (Honors) and 1.5 – 2 years MPH course in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety. Majors will have the opportunity through extensive coursework, Laboratories, Hands on Training on relevant areas, Regular academic field visit in various industries & places related to important occupational and environmental issues, Seminars and several projects to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the workforce or to go on with further graduate education leading to BPH or MPH degree in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline at home and abroad.

Bangladesh is a low-lying delta country characterized by a dense network of rivers, has been subjected to natural hazards, regardless of climate change. It is now also progressing towards rapid development by implementing mega infrastructural and industrial projects. Bangladesh has taken several steps towards climate-change resiliency in recognition of its vulnerability. It has put in place mechanisms for addressing climate sensitive issues in the country. All these development works are implementing considering both environmental sustainability and highest occupational safety standards. Bangladesh needs huge skilled professionals on both occupational and environmental health safety to meet the highly growing demands with an opportunity to work at abroad also.
Prospective job sectors are- Government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), environmental protection agencies, large and medium size industries, United Nation and International Organizations, universities and research centers, consulting firms etc. As academicians and researcher, they have the opportunity to join different educational and research institutes in Bangladesh and abroad. There is a wider opportunity to obtain PhD in relevant issues.
