The Department of Pharmacology is committed to helping students in increasing their scientific knowledge in the field of pharmacology by giving quality education in both academic and research to meet the demand of the nation for sustainable development of health sector.
- To acquire new knowledge in Pharmacology by conducting and promoting innovative research.
- To provide students with knowledge of the basic principles for the actions of drugs and toxic substances.
- To disseminate knowledge to Biochemist, Lab technologist, Microbiologist, Immunologist and graduate students through quality teaching.

The Department of Pharmacology of BUHS was established in 2010 and started its journey in 2013 as offering extra departmental courses for other programs like 4 years BSc (Honors) Biochemistry, Microbiology, Lab Technology and 1.5 years MS courses in Biochemistry and Immunology. Since its inception the department owns an Animal House which is a rare opportunity in the context of educational Institutions of Bangladesh. Animal experimentation course is being taught in this department. Animal House is essential to the quality of teaching of this course. Moreover, it is utmost important to the quality of research data and or testing programs in which animals are used. Using Animal house facilities Undergraduate and Postgraduate students can develop their skills necessary to enter the workforce or they can pursue further higher education leading to PhD in the related fields at home and abroad.
- Pharmacology brings together information from a variety of scientific fields, including chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and physiology, to improve human health.
- Graduates and postgraduates students will make up the majority of the future workforce in the preclinical and clinical drug safety fields.
- Students are also able to do work in academic or industry settings in various fields of medical research, while others continue their higher studies by enrolling in PhD programs.
