Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) proudly announces that Mr. Palash Chandra Banik, Associate Professor, Department of Noncommunicable Diseases, Faculty of Public Health, has been selected to join the 2025 cohort of the World Heart Federation (WHF) Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme — a prestigious global initiative that identifies and nurtures future leaders in cardiovascular health.
Mr. Banik is among only 25 healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocates from across five continents invited to participate in this year’s programme. His selection reflects his strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular health and preventing noncommunicable diseases in Bangladesh.
Established in 2014 by renowned cardiologist Professor Salim Yusuf, the WHF Emerging Leaders Programme focuses on cardiovascular health policy, health systems, and implementation science.
The 2025 seminar, themed “Artificial Intelligence for Cardiovascular Health through Implementation Research,” will be held in Florence, Italy, from November 15–19, 2025, featuring intensive training, networking, and collaborative project development sessions.
As part of his participation, Mr. Banik has received a competitive WHF travel grant, covering accommodation and airfare — a recognition of his potential as an emerging leader in cardiovascular health.
“We are incredibly proud of Mr. Banik’s achievement,” said Professor Dr. Begum Rowshan Ara, Dean, Faculty of Public Health, and Professor Dr. J. M. A. Hannan, Vice-Chancellor, BUHS.
“His involvement will bring valuable global insights to BUHS and the wider public health community.”
The entire BUHS family extends heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Palash Chandra Banik on this remarkable achievement and wishes him continued success at the upcoming seminar in Florence.
