MS IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program describe accomplishments that graduates are expected to attain within two years after graduation.

  1. Able to follow the scientific evolution in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to upgrade his professional and academic level.
  2. Apply advanced technologies and tools in biochemical and molecular analysis.
  3. Independently conduct scientific research and produce publishable research articles.
  4. Engage in lifelong learning with focus in the disciplines of biological Sciences
  5. Demonstrate awareness of moral and ethical values
  6. Work with others demonstrating collaborative and leadership skills.

The department is conducting a 2 years MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program. This program includes extensive coursework, Laboratories, Seminars, several projects and thesis to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the workforce or to go on with further higher education leading to PhD degree in Biochemistry or related discipline at home and abroad. The MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program will be conducted on a Course & Credit based structure with 16 number of Courses to be dispensed in 1596 Credit Hours in total for 70 credits thesis group and 18 number of Courses to be dispensed in 1542 Credit Hours in total for 70 credits non thesis group, completed in a minimum time span of 18 months.

The MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program will be conducted on a Course & Credit based structure with 16 number of Courses to be dispensed in 1596 Credit Hours in total for 70 credits thesis group and 18 number of Courses to be dispensed in 1542 Credit Hours in total for 70 credits non thesis group, completed in a minimum time span of 18 months.

Each new Program will commence in Spring and Fall in every year (02 intakes per year)

MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology:

  • Honors in Biochemistry or its equivalents from any recognized University;
  • MBBS or its equivalent degree from any recognized University
  • Foreign students with equivalent qualification as in (a) above are eligible;
  • Equivalence will be decided by a Committee called ‘Equivalence Committee’ formed by the Academic Council of BUHS

Our students can pursue a research career at the emerging National University in Bangladesh or Research Institute of the advanced world. Another opportunities are:

  • Academicians in Universities dealing Health and Biological Sciences.
  • As Consultants in different Government projects & Public Health related national and international Organizations
  • Research/ Scientific Officer in different research institutes at home and abroad and in private hospitals, Industries and in different diagnostic laboratories Pharmaceuticals.

  • Minimum CGPA in Honor’s program must be 2.00 for admission.

Contrary to popular notion in our society health is not an issue only for the physicians but its development needs a concerted effort of professionals from basic, clinical and social sciences. In line with this concept, generation of human resources in health should not be treated merely from teaching and training points of views; research should also be equally emphasized in this venture as evidences based on geographical, environmental, ethnic and sociocultural background are a prerequisite for rational and cost-effective health care delivery in a population. Based on an internationally recognized research tradition at BIRDEM and BIHS which, in turn, are rooted in the long-term dream of Late National Professor Dr M Ibrahim, the present University aims to blend the three vital elements (teaching, training and research) of education to fulfill the ultimate responsibilities (knowledge dissemination and knowledge generation) of a higher centre of learning. With this aim Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) has started its journey with full-time non-practicing (or institutionally practicing) faculty members and a number of highly reputed guest faculties and collaborating partners from all over the world. In public health, BUHS has taken a discipline-wise subspecialty approach which fits more with the present volume of knowledge and technological advancement in the area.We believe that studying in BUHS will be a pleasant and productive experience.
