BPH IN COMMUNITY NUTRITION

  • Knowledge on the fundamental issues about community nutrition among the graduates from different perspectives by making them come out with simple solutions for complex problems.
  • Prepare Community Nutrition graduates qualified entry-level professionals by providing intellectualizing, critically analyzing, and acquiring in-depth knowledge on the concept of the human body, digestion, and absorption by absorbing in them the unique ability to synthesize knowledge towards adding value in the areas of good nutrition.
  • Able to produce competent graduates with inter-professional competencies engaged in the health profession and the improvement of human well-being.
  • Adapt the passion for innovation in community nutrition graduates by orienting them in the application of modern tools in the prevention and management of malnutrition and making them learn to select and apply in complex decision-making processes.
  • Produce life-long learner graduates who can incorporate new evidence-based technology and knowledge into practice.
  • Promote lateral thinking by empowering community nutrition graduates to see things from different perspectives, thereby making them come out with simple solutions for complex administrative problems using modern technology.

Nutrition (CN) was first introduced under the Public Health Division in 2013. This Bachelor’s program provides comprehensive education for helping individuals and groups develop healthy eating habits to promote wellness and prevent disease. Through extensive coursework, field works, seminars, and several projects, students have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the workforce or go on with further higher education at home and abroad.

This Program will be conducted on a Course & Credit based structure with 48 number of Courses to be dispensed in 160 Credits in total, completed in a minimum time span of 4 years.

Each new Program will commence Spring and Fall every year (02 intakes per year).

  • A Candidate with SSC (Science Group) and HSC (Science Group) or their equivalents is eligible to apply with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in either one and a combined CGPA of 6.
  • Foreign students with equivalent qualification are eligible.
  • Equivalence will be decided by a committee called ‘Equivalence Committee’ formed by the Academic Council of BUHS.
  • Have opportunity to do work at the district level in Govt. Sector
  • Work also as a Clinical Nutritionist
  • Have job in various reputed national and international organizations, (WHO, UNICEF, Grain, ICDDR, B, UNDP, WFP)
  • Have chance to do highest education and research in Nutrition Sector at national and international level

Admission Eligibility:
  • A Candidate with SSC (Science Group) and HSC (Science Group) or their equivalents is eligible to apply with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in either one and a combined CGPA of 6.
  • O/A Level:
  • Minimum 5 O-level and 2 A-level subjects
  • Grade-B (GPA 4.00) in at least 4 subjects
  • Grade-C (GPA 3.50) in 3 subjects
  • Four-year Diploma in MATS, IHT or in any other relevant disciplines
  • Foreign students with equivalent qualification are eligible.
  • Equivalence will be decided by a Committee called ‘Equivalence Committee’ formed by the Academic Council of BUHS.

Contrary to popular notion in our society health is not an issue only for the physicians but its development needs a concerted effort of professionals from basic, clinical and social sciences. In line with this concept, generation of human resources in health should not be treated merely from teaching and training points of views; research should also be equally emphasized in this venture as evidences based on geographical, environmental, ethnic and sociocultural background are a prerequisite for rational and cost-effective health care delivery in a population. Based on an internationally recognized research tradition at BIRDEM and BIHS which, in turn, are rooted in the long-term dream of Late National Professor Dr M Ibrahim, the present University aims to blend the three vital elements (teaching, training and research) of education to fulfill the ultimate responsibilities (knowledge dissemination and knowledge generation) of a higher centre of learning. With this aim Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) has started its journey with full-time non-practicing (or institutionally practicing) faculty members and a number of highly reputed guest faculties and collaborating partners from all over the world. In public health, BUHS has taken a discipline-wise subspecialty approach which fits more with the present volume of knowledge and technological advancement in the area.We believe that studying in BUHS will be a pleasant and productive experience.
