MPH IN EPIDEMIOLOGY
- To impart higher level of knowledge and skills on different areas of the subjects of epidemiology including their roles and responsibilities
- To discuss on advance concept of verbal and scientific communication and advocacy
- To communicate knowledge on innovative and research works in the fields concerned
- Impart teaching and training for developing research and learning skills necessary in the areas concerned.
There are a huge range of activities of the department which includes investigation and control of disease outbreaks, study of environmental and industrial hazards, evaluation of new, preventive or curative treatment, determination of the health needs of the populations, and evaluation of effectiveness of health services. The enthusiastic and student friendly faculties of the department sharing their knowledge and skills to the students with their wide range of interest areas like diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, injuries, maternal and child health, mental health, musculoskeletal conditions and infectious diseases. In addition, nutritional, genetic, molecular, metabolic, demographic, environmental, medical, psychosocial, socio-economic and behavioral factors associated with disease risk and disease outcome are also other study areas. There are also huge research opportunities for students in many areas of human health and disease. The faculty’s research expertise is highly interdisciplinary and often it involves in collaboration with other institutions, as well as with other departments within the University.
70 Credits, Duration: one and half years (Three semesters).
MPH Program commence from 2013
- MBBS/BDS or its equivalent recognized by the BMDC plus one year in service training (Internship)
- 4-yrs Honors in Biological Science/Pharmacy from a recognized University;
- B.Sc in Physiotherapy recognized by the appropriate government authority as applicable plus 2 years working experiences preferably in public health field
- 4-yrs B Sc in Nursing from a recognized University
- BHMS under Dhaka University and recognized by the concerned authority plus one year in-service training
- Bachelor of Ayurvedhic Medicine (BAMS) plus one year in-service training (Internship)
- 4-yrs BPH from a recognized University
- Honors in Epidemiology or its equivalents from any recognized University in Bangladesh
- Foreign students with equivalent qualifications. Equivalence of foreign students qualification are decided by a Committee called ‘Equivalence Committee’ formed by the Academic Council of BUHS
- Total minimum creditrequirement to complete the program: 70 credits
- Total class weeks in a Year/ semester: 48 week /24 week
- Minimum CGPA requirements for graduation: 2.5
- Maximum academic years of completion: 3 years for Master Program
