BUHS in cooperation with WHO organized a Seminar on avoiding excessive salt

 

 

Department of Health Promotion & Health Education of the Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) with the technical cooperation of the World Health Organization (WHO) organized a seminar in the University auditorium yesterday aiming to building mass awareness on avoiding excessive salt to address health risks. 

Prof AHM Enayet Hussain, Line Director, Non-Communicable Disease Control, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) was present on the occasion as the chief guest while Prof Liaquat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUHS was in the chair.

The dissemination seminar titled ‘Development of Fact Sheet on Dietary Salt Intake based on National Communication Strategy for reduction of NCD’ was among others addressed by Abdul Waheed Akanda, Chief, Bureau of Health Education of DGHS, Dr M Mostafa Zaman, National Professional Officer (NCD), WHO and Prof Sohel Reza Choudhury, Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Research, National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, Bangladesh as special guests. Ms Kazi Rumana Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Promotion & Health Education, BUHS presented the Key-Note Speech in the program. University teachers, physicians, researchers and students of the University and different organizations attended the seminar.

Experts and participants of the seminar expressed their commitment to work simultaneously to reach the message ‘Avoid salt in dishes’ to the people with an object to build health awareness on blood pressure and heart diseases.
